Today we're putting the subject of drag racing on the back burner, because I firmly believe that on this day, the blog should be solely dedicated to saluting and thanking the countless number of emergency service workers who are currently saving lives throughout all the different locations that have recently been ravaged by natural disasters... I'm talking about the emergency medical technicians, first responders, fire fighters, doctors, nurses, K-9 rescue and recovery units, law enforcement, civilian volunteers and all those who are giving so selflessly of themselves to help those in desperate need. Texas and Florida got hit by hurricanes Harvey and Irma, Mexico got shaken by a major earthquake, Puerto Rico and neighboring islands got slammed by Hurricane Maria -- and what all these different natural disasters have in common, is that all of them are seeing the call for help and rescue being answered by people so strongly dedicated to aiding their fellow man. When I turn on the TV, and see victims of all these disasters being pulled from the rubble or flooding and then airlifted by helicopters to safety, it gives me a fresh and completely renewed hope in humanity. Our thoughts and prayers are with all the unfortunate victims of these disasters and all those individuals who are working so diligently to rescue them. These are the tough times when heroes make a difference.
