RECOGNIZING INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY A DAY LATE... DRAG RACING IS THE MOTORSPORT OF TRUE PARITY AMONG MEN AND WOMEN...

Granted, I'm a day late with this, however, since yesterday was Wednesday, and Wednesday is always the day we run TALES OF THE PHANTOM RACER here on the blog, I'm posting my recognition of INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY today... That said, I'm very proud of all of us in the drag racing community, because out of all the other major forms of motorsport in the world, none other has the equal parity among the sexes that drag racing does. Heck, with Leah Pritchett winning Top Fuel for the first two NHRA events in a row of the 2017 season, I guess that sure makes the case for what I'm saying... The sport of drag racing has long been a sport where women have had their rightful place. And I want to thank the female pioneers of drag racing who helped pave the way for women to now be able to compete on a level playing field at the strip. Just off the top of my head, women like Della Woods, Shirley Shahan, Paula Murphy, Barbara Hamilton, Shirley Muldowney, Carolyn Melendy, Carol Henson and "Bunny" Burkett come to mind (but there's many, many others)... I'm proud of how drag racing is just as much a sport for women as it is for men...
