MORE REFLECTION ON THE DEMISE OF E'TOWN DRAG RACING...

I'm still sort of absorbing the news that Old Bridge Township Raceway Park is done with all drag racing operations. There's no doubt that as this situation continues to sink in to my psyche that it's generating mix emotions. It's kind of surreal. As John Gill said to me just yesterday, he didn't really think that we'd see this happen in our lifetime. But most of us rational people who've been following the E'Town scene for decades can still understand why the curtain has now been closed for all straightline racing activities. There's the never ending influx of complaining neighbors, the extreme insurance costs, liabilities, socioeconomic strain, the fact that drag racing's popularity isn't quite what it used to be among the more mainstream population, etc, etc... That all said, I'd like to once again extend a big thank you to all the Napp family and Raceway Park staff and crew people who've worked the facility over the years, all the sportsman and professional racers and teams who've filled the staging lanes, and last but certainly not least, all the many fans of all the many different genres of drag racing who've occupied the grandstands...
